Groundwater levels in Bramdean and Cheriton are high but falling slowly. In the last week, the level at Cheriton Wood has fallen by 31cm. We expect isolated properties in Cheriton will be affected by cellar flooding. Septic tanks will be struggling to operate effectively. From today (02/05/2024) to Monday (06/05/2024), further spells of rain, some of which may be heavy, are forecast in Hampshire with between 10 and 50mm possible during this time. Groundwater levels may stabilise, or even rise slightly, in response to the recent heavy rainfall, but they will likely continue falling again within a few days. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. If you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they are operating. This Flood Alert will be updated by 18:00 on Thursday (09/05/2024).
